Course Objectives

• To identify reasons why some student groups under perform
• To consider how data and intervention can be used to impact positively on progress
• To use research to consider wider strategies to support disadvantaged and PP students in making good progress

Gaps in attainment between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged students continue to be a concern across the country. The government has identified this as a key area for development in ensuring outcomes and opportunities for all our young people are comparable no matter what their background.

This course looks at ways to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds perform as well as their peers in mathematics. It considers both long term and shorter term strategies.
