Course Objectives

This course is particularly suitable for newly qualified teachers or those returning to teaching, being designed to develop teachers’ skills in planning effective lessons which will move children on in their learning.

Delegates will be offered a range of strategies and practical ideas for planning and differentiation.
• To provide support and guidance in planning, explored and exemplified through examples from English
• To develop understanding of how planning can take account of attainment in order for pupils to make sustained progress
• To consider ways of modifying teaching to suit the needs of learners.

Examples used will provide support for development and progression in learning in the English programmes of study; suggestions will provide teachers with an understanding of how these strategies can be applied in other subject areas.
The twilight will particularly develop understanding in relation to Teaching Standard 5: Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils.
