Course Objectives

• To provide guidance for Year 2 teachers in making judgements against the statements from the teacher assessment framework for the end of Key Stage1 for writing.
• To share guidance from National Standards and Testing Agency training for moderators.
• To explore, in detail,criteria for making judgements about children's writing, focusing on those pupils working at greater depth within the expected standard, and also those working at the expected standard

For the academic year 2019/20, The Standards and Testing Agency have provided national training for all KS1 Moderators. These materials will be available for use with schools prior to the moderation window (Available Monday 18th November 2019 on NCA Tools and The Lancashire Assessment Team website). This course will take participants through the materials, giving the latest national messages and allowing them to refine and finalise their approaches to writing for 2020

Participants will be provided with both hard and electronic versions of the materials to take away to assist with their practice.

This course does not replace any statutory moderation that the school may be required to take part in and has different content to any Local Authority moderation courses
