Course Objectives

• To provide an opportunity for those new to leading art to explore the national curriculum expectations for KS1 and KS2
• To identify the specific skills and knowledge required and to explore the issues of progression
• To consider how sketchbooks can be used to support and develop pupils’ skills
• To explore how art can be sued effectively across the curriculum
• To examine how progress can be evidenced

This course for those new to leading art is an opportunity to gain practical advice and guidance. Led by Katharine Knowles and Michelle Johnston who are both are experienced teachers and subject specialists, this course will provide a good foundation for those looking to develop art in their schools. Through a range of creative and practical ideas, the course will consider key issues of skills development and progression in primary art.
