Course Objectives

•To introduce participants to the contents of the maths box
•To explain how the materials can be used to support and challenge able children

The National Curriculum for mathematics states that pupils who grasp concepts rapidly should be challenged through being offered rich and sophisticated problems before any acceleration through new content.
Participants will be introduced to the extensive contents of a box of maths resources which have been gathered to help to meet the needs of able pupils. Resources can be shared across the school. Ideas for how to get the most from the materials will be shared. The maths box can then be taken for use in school for the full term.

Please note that a car is essential as the box is large and heavy. Participants will be expected to check the contents and return the box to the LPDS centre in Chorley, one week before the end of the term. Lost items will incur a charge to cover the cost of replacement.
